An odd event for me; usually I think of myself as the black and whites hold-out, the obscure-comics guy. And hwaht do we have here? DCs and Marvels and nary a black and white comic book on-list. But hey-- sic siempre labels! This's what I found for me this week:
Catwoman #82—crawling toward the end; never really ever caught up to the sheer exuberance of Ed Brubaker’s first two or three dozen issues. Best Catwoman story this month is in Brave and the Bold: almost an interim All Star Superman story..!
Jack of Fables #25, Daredevil #110: both steady, solidly entertaining, the first light-hearted, the second…well…not.
Northlanders #9 is losing my interest: no sympathetic characters for me; starting a new story line this issue, so...?
She-Hulk 2 #32, so far one of only two books it’s made sense to have that invasion-thing touch on, as She-Hulk’s companion is, and has been throughout the series, a (reformed, so to speak) Skrull.
Madame Xanadu #3, Superman #679, still too new to comment on; of them, Mde. X is the more interesting after two issues, and of course Runaways 3’s just begun, with Terry Moore's authorship.
Fallen Angel #29, $3.99; I’ve just read the first collection, which interested me in pursuing this series; Super-girl as a real and interesting person.
Caliber #5 ends this first arc in the story of King Arthur as if living in the U.S. Old West; gets a little obvious after a while, otherwise an interesting idea well done.
All Star Superman TP Vol. 1, $12.99 If y’missed this as comicbooks, this is worth your time and your money; this is the Superman I’ve always enjoyed, light-hearted sure, and serious, and clever and very easy to look at.
Hope y'find something y'like; what'd I miss?
Matt
