Looking Forward into December 2009

Hi--
looking forward, everything based on hope--

Horror-masters Mike Mignola (W) and Richard Corban (A) enlist Dave Stewart’s colors for a Hellboy one-shot, “The Bride of Hell” from Dark Horse. For me this all but gaurantees a highly entertaining comic book.

Usagi Yojimbo #125 will be published in December, likely to be only as brilliant and beautiful as the previous—what is it? 240 issues?—chronicling the wandering of the honorable and capable rabbit ronin.

“Jonah Hex” reaches issue #50, and… Continue

Looking Forward into November 2009

Hey--! some great new comics a'comin'--

Looking forward, everything based on hope--!

The return of Richard Delgado’s “Age of Reptiles,” surely one of the most beautiful and occasionally provocative dinosaur books ever! Delgado’s two previous “Age” books have been wordless, yet clear in storytelling, and wonderfully drawn. Dark Horse Comics wins again.

“Groo” #2 I can’t expect anything less than cleverly drawn, thought-provoking hilarity (apparently Groo raises swords against big business &… Continue

Looking Forward, Octobe 2009

Here’s to you, and October 2009—

Almost didn’t order Groo #1, not because I’m over-Groo’d, or expect anything less than cleverly drawn, thought-provoking hilarity (apparently Groo takes on big business & the stock market of his time), but because they’ve priced themselves beyond my budget at $4/issue. But I’ve read Groo since Destroyer Duck days, so I'm fitting this in, and I’m glad.

“Gotham City Sirens” #5: Paul Dini writes for Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl. The first co… Continue

Looking Forward - September 09

I'm going to try posting here once again; this time, I'll be looking forward toward new comics set to be arriving two months in the future! Today's blog: Comics for September, 2009!

Of the four Halloween mini-comics, (actually last year’s were ‘digest-sized’ mini-comics), I choose Popeye’s to give away; Casper & Lulu’s would’ve been my second choice, if I thought I could afford both (25/packet). Each 16 pages, both look properly Halloweeny; it’s just Popeye’s my guy.

“Beasts of Burden” #1,… Continue

Got Hope, or Fear? (politics)

I got hope.
I really believe Barack Obama and Joe Biden will lead us out of this horrible mess we've come to.
I got fear from seeing John McCain's rash and 'rock star-appeal' choice of Sarah Palin, and his record of supporting George Bush's many choices leading to our present day.

Mostly, though, I got hope.
